Richard "Rick" Albert Schafer Jr.

Rick was born on September 22, 1970, in Lansing, the son of Richard Schafer Sr. and Mary Monroe.

Rick graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1988. Several years later, he attended classes at Lansing Community College. Rick married the love of his life, Shauntelle Trimmer, in 1994 and they have one son, Andrew, in 2001.

Rick worked in telecommunications for over 25 years. His career took him from Customer Service Rep. to Director of Outbound Services. He was with the company since the initial start-up.

However, his favorite job was being a husband and father and taking care of his family. Rick was very dedicated to his family and friends and ensuring that if they ever needed anything, he would be there and do what he could.

Rick enjoyed camping and fishing, especially once Andrew was old enough to enjoy it also. They both spent a lot of time together as Andrew grew up – fishing, sitting by bonfires and enjoying nature. Rick, Andrew, and I loved camping in the U.P., and we would visit Pictured Rocks along Lake Superior and Tahquamenon Falls every chance we got.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents, and father-in-law, Gary Trimmer.

Rick is survived by his wife, Shauntelle; son, Andrew; two brothers Scott (Carola) Rosenmeier, and Steven (Shirley); two sisters, Catherine (Robert) Johnson, Lisa (Sam) Tower and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
