

Rita Adel (Roth) Day Kyes, passed away June 25, 2015. Born July 18, 1927 to Frank Raymond and Stella (Voelker) Roth, Rita was the last surviving child in her family of nine. She married Kermit Harold Day on November 30, 1948 and they moved to Michigan in 1955. Following Kermit’s death in 1972, she married Warren James Kyes on August 12, 1978. Rita is survived by her children, Beverly Day, Carolyn (Jerry) Dean, Kermit (Rebecca) Day, Denise (Steve) Carlson, Lynnette (Bobby) Wilcox, Malisa (Scott) Vanderwest. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren in whom she found great delight. Rita grew up in Ste. Genevieve, MO but lived most of her life in Michigan. She fell in love and married twice, sharing her life with two wonderful men, but losing each in turn to cancer. She worked at Michigan National Bank for many years, then eventually retired from Auto Owners Insurance. Later in life she developed Alzheimer’s Disease, requiring that she move into foster care. Throughout her life she was a loving, funny, Christian woman who always smiled and never met a stranger. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her. The family would like to thank Craft Care Home staff for the care she received as a resident. At Rita’s request, there will not be a funeral. Instead, a Celebration of Life will be held July 29, 2015 at Holt Christian Church at 4 pm. The family will receive friends at the church two hours prior, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
