Robert Murphy

of Lansing, Michigan

Age 85, entered his eternal home Sunday, April 27, 2008 in Lansing. Robert was born July 24, 1922 in Delta Twp, Michigan and was the son of Louis B. and Lilah May (Eddy) Murphy. He was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church and his faith in Christ was very important to him. At an early age, he became proficient in playing the violin. His passion for music became a vehicle for relaxation and ministry throughout his life. He was a member of the Original Michigan Fiddler's Association and the Dulcimer Players Club. He was a master carpenter and contractor for over 40 years. One of his most memorable contributions was his leadership in the facility development of Youth Haven Ranch. Robert was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving in the Pacific Theatre and was a Life Member of the VFW. Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Margaret E. (McElmurry); children, Daniel (Christine) Murphy, Elaine (Terry) Shaw, Kenneth Murphy; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lilah Murphy. Visitation will be 5-8PM Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 West Saginaw, Lansing 48917. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Friday, May 2, 2008 at Maranatha Baptist Church, 2300 N. Waverly Road, Lansing 48906 with Pastor Glenn M. Ray, Jr., officiating. Interment will be Deepdale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Youth Haven, P.O.
