Grand Ledge
Age 88, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 1, 2014. Bob was born April 25, 1925 in Lansing. He was the second of three sons born to Stan and Alma Scarborough. He graduated from Lansing Eastern High School and Acme Business College. Bob proudly served his country in World War II as a soldier in the United States Army. He continued to serve as a full-time member of the Michigan National Guard until leaving to work in traffic management at Motor Wheel Corporation in 1964. Bob retired from the Motor Wheel purchasing department in 1985.
After retirement, Bob and his wife Lorraine spent many years wintering in Arizona, and summering in Central Lake, Michigan, before returning to the Lansing area later in life. They also traveled to Europe on a couple occasions. Bob enjoyed his retired life. Bob also had a passion for golf, and was still out playing on local courses in the summer of 2012 at age 85.
Bob was wonderful father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a gentle, loving man with a warm personality. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and especially by his small, but devoted family. Bob was a joy to be around. He was outgoing, fun-loving, and very friendly. Particularly in his older years, Bob had a radiant smile that immediately attracted attention.
Bob was preceded in death by his brothers, Stan (1975), and Dick (2013). He was also preceded by his wife of 62 years and the love of his life, Lorraine (Pyle) Scarborough in 2006.
Bob is survived by his son, Gerald (Catherine) Scarborough; grandchildren, Leanne Scarborough and Gregory (Tami) Scarborough; and great-grandchildren, Travis Scarborough, Benjamin Tormen, and Riley Scarborough.
Bob’s family would like to thank the care staff at StoryPoint of Grand Ledge for the care and compassion they showed Bob during the last five months of his life. They too were like a part of Bob’s family.
