Ronald Warren Nelson

Ron married the love of his life, Charlene (Grefe) Nelson in 1958 and together they raised three children: Steve, Susan and Scott.

Ron served in the United States Army and Army Reserves from 1957 to 1963.

Ron retired from General Motors Proving Grounds where he was a skilled carpenter. He loved watching sports (playing sports in his younger years), attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events, fishing trips and playing cards/board games.

Ron will be deeply missed and will forever be remembered by those who knew him for his unwavering kindness and patience. He is at peace now in God’s care, and reunited with his loved ones, especially his beloved Char, whom he missed terribly.

Ron was preceded in death by his wife Char, parents Elmer and Juanita Nelson, his sisters Connie Melchert (husband Roy), Maureen Poertner and sister-in-law Chery Moran.

Ron is survived by his sons Steve (Ella) Nelson, Scott Nelson (Jenny Ya) daughter Susan (Steve) McCormack, brother Ken (Pat) Nelson, sister Margo (Rod) Soule, grandchildren Holly House, Rachel (Geoff) Bayer, Amanda Bronkema, Erin (Jeff) Saunders, great-grandchildren Kaylynn, Jalen, Olivia, Morgan, Mason, Averi, Bailey, sister -in-laws Cindy (Mike) Glenn, Connie Dunsmore, brother-in-laws Jim Moran and Tom Poertner, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life for Ron (passed away 4/30/25) and Char (passed away 9/17/24) on Sunday May 18th between 12 – 3 PM at the Leroy Township Hall, 1685 N M-52, Webberville, Michigan.
