Rose-marie Milloy (née Chouinard), age 75, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, in Lansing, Michigan. Born on December 12, 1949, in Traverse City, Michigan, she spent most of her life in Lansing, where she built a life filled with laughter, love, and deep-rooted connections.
Rose-marie was the daughter of Leonard and Kathryn Chouinard and grew up in a lively household alongside her siblings. She attended Holy Cross School, Otto Junior High, and graduated from J.W. Sexton High School in Lansing. After high school, she began her professional journey as a line assigner at Michigan Bell Telephone Company, where she worked for three years before dedicating herself full-time to raising her two daughters.
In 8th grade, Rose-marie met the love of her life, Gregory Milloy. Their bond blossomed through high school—beginning to date in 10th grade—and culminated in marriage in 1971 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in East Lansing. Together they shared over five decades of marriage marked by unwavering companionship and shared passions. They especially loved watching sports together—whether cheering from their living room or attending live games—and treasured their travels to California and Connecticut to visit family.
Rose-marie had an infectious sense of humor and a remarkable ability to find joy and laughter in any situation. Her wit and warmth made her a beloved presence among friends and family alike. She had a lifelong love for politics and volunteered for local political campaigns after high school—a passion that remained strong throughout her life. A devoted fan of all Detroit sports teams, she was particularly enthusiastic about the Red Wings and MSU hockey, basketball, and football.
Her love for children was evident from an early age; she began babysitting neighborhood kids at just ten years old and continued to delight in their company throughout her life. She adored being a mother to Molly (Ken) Powers and Amber Milloy and cherished every moment spent with them.
One of the greatest joys of Rose-marie’s later years was her special relationship with her only grandson, Cole Powers. Their bond was filled with energy and affection—marked by backyard sports games and impromptu dance parties that brought endless laughter to both their lives.
Rose-marie also found joy in reading biographies and political works and had an enduring appreciation for pop culture. She was a devoted fan of Bruce Springsteen, Smokey Robinson, and The Beatles—artists whose music often filled her home with rhythm and nostalgia.
She is survived by her loving husband Gregory Milloy; daughters Molly (Ken) Powers and Amber Milloy; grandson Cole Powers; siblings Jim (Marta) Chouinard, Bob (Kim) Chouinard,
Marty (Marsha) Chouinard, Vicki Jean (Tim) Kocher; many beloved nieces and nephews; and dear friend Kris Hasto.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Kathryn Chouinard; brothers Dan Chouinard and Dave Chouinard.
May Rose-marie’s memory bring comfort to those who knew her—and may the echoes of her laughter continue to warm our hearts for years to come.
