Ruben Holderman Jr.

Ruben Holderman Jr., born on April 5, 1957, passed away on October 27, 2025, at the age of 68. A resident of Owosso, Michigan, Ruben was a loving father, a cherished papaw, a caring brother, and a devoted son.

Ruben was the loving father of Marley Jewell (Dustin Taylor) Holderman, and the dearest papaw to her children: Brandyn, Donovan, Charlotte, and Dustin. He was also the father of Derrick Ruben Holderman, and a loving papaw to his children: Kayla and Keena. Additionally, he was the father of Joshua Corey Holderman, and a loving papaw to his children: Alex, Jewell, Hailey, and Joshua. Ruben was a caring brother to Marilyn (Reginald) Resper and Beverly Sue, and an uncle to Rachel and Reggie, along with many other nieces, nephews, and relatives. He was the dear son of both the late Ruben Sr. and Jewell Holderman, and the former husband of Charlotte.

Ruben proudly served in the United States Navy, enlisting in 1975 after graduating from Washington County High School - he also graduated from Naval training in 1975. He loved music and worked as a light and sound technician and traveled with several bands.

As a loving father, he gave up his career to raise his children. Ruben was a God-loving man who enjoyed helping those in need and always wanted to feed everyone, cooking an absolute feast on every holiday. He would say, "If you left my house hungry, that was your own fault." An avid sports fan, he was deeply devoted to the University of Kentucky, often saying he "bled blue." Ruben was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be so deeply missed.

The visitation will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 4 until 8 pm, with the funeral service at 6 pm at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912.

Interment will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 2:30 pm at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442. Please arrive no later than 2:15 pm. Military honors will be rendered under the auspices of the United States Navy.
