Samuel J. Stornant, 88, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away May 20, 2014. He was born on January 30, 1926 in Lansing, Michigan to the late Carmen and Frances (Sava) Stornant. Samuel served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from General Motors Fisher Body Plant. In his spare time, Samuel enjoyed watching sports and supported his family members at their athletic events. Samuel’s family was of the utmost importance, and he will be greatly missed.
Samuel was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Stornant; sons, Mark and Michael Stornant; brothers, Carmen, James, and Joseph; and sisters, Mary, Gloria, and Theresa. Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughter, Lisa Higgins; grandchildren, Matthew (Kelly) Stornant, Stephen (April) Stornant, Rachel Higgins, Christopher Higgins, and Michael Stornant; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Stornant; and sister, Louise Schiavetti.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 30, 2014 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton St., East Lansing, MI 48823. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
