Born May 21st, 1930, to Margaret Yaekel and Ralph Jentzen, she was always a creative child with a spark that grew brighter with each passing year. Shirley met John "Jack" Gagnon, and they were happily married on September 9th, 1950. Three years later, she gave birth to their only child, Roger Gagnon.
Shirley delighted in lively evenings of square dancing and ballroom dancing with Jack where her gracious moves, fancy petticoats, and captivating smile, lit up the room.
Next to being the bell of the ball, her vision and artistry carried on to goodwill projects including knitting hats for newborn babies and cancer patients as well as heart pillows for cardiac patients teamed up with McLaren Sewing Project Services. She didn't stop there. Her hands were rarely still as she lovingly crocheted lap blankets that warmed the hearts of wheelchair-bound veterans.
We will forever cherish the joyful memories of Shirley - her artistry with needle and yarn, and the radiant spirit she brought to every dance. Though she is gone, she will continue to dance in our hearts.
Shirley is survived by her son, Roger (Nancy) Gagnon; her brother, Ronald (Carol) Yeakel; her grandchildren, Justin (Andrea) Adler, Alexandra (Jesse) Petovello, Anna Petovello; her great grandchildren, Layla Adler, Luisa Adler and Syren Perez. Shirley is proceeded in death by her beloved husband, John Gagnon; and late brother, Ralph Jentzen.
No services will be held at this time.
