

He was born on December 31, 1931, in Nueva Ecija, Philippines to Fernando and Paula Mariano. Silvestre graduated from Far Eastern University in the Philippines and worked in Accounting/Finance and as an Insurance Agent at PhilAm Life for several years. He worked multiple other jobs after moving to the US and retired from Jacobson’s Department Store.
Silvestre was known for his generosity, dedication to his wife and family, hard work, and tenacity. He was a kind-hearted, self sacrificing man, who always prioritized others over himself. Silvestre was born and raised a farmer and grew up in poverty but propelled himself to complete his college degree. He was a humble man. He was a self-made man who came from humble beginnings. Silvestre raised a family with his wife of almost 60 years. He was born and raised in the Philippines and moved with his family to the US on March 29, 1986. He sacrificed his comfortable life to seek a better future for his children. He was a kind and honest man who did everything for his family. He was a God-fearing man.
Silvestre is survived by wife, Fidelina H. Mariano, children, Joseph Paul Mariano, Olive and David Lemanski, Lourdes and Christopher Dempsey; grandchildren, Hannah, Liam, and Sarah Dempsey; Julia and Amelia Lemanski; and sister, Maria Baetiong. He was preceded in death by siblings, Romana Manuel, Gertrudes Diego, and Angel Mariano, Sr.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with the Rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM, at Gorsline Runciman Lansing Chapel, 900 E Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 11:00 AM, with a one-hour prior visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Church of the Resurrection, 1505 E Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912, Father Steve Mattson presiding. Following Mass, Silvestre will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 2520 W Willow St., Lansing, MI 48917. There will be a luncheon back at the church immediately following the burial.
