Theodore Johnson

Ted Johnson (83) passed in his sleep from congestive heart failure on July 19, 2024, in Virginia, shortly after moving in with his loving daughter (Lisa Hoecker) and son-in-law (Justin Hoecker). Ted is also survived by his “first buddy” and sister, Dawn Ridge, and his brother-in-law Michael Ridge.

Ted was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 46 years (Pamela Johnson) in 2022. Both were the best parents a daughter could hope for, living their lives to the fullest and providing the guidance Lisa needed to become the person she is today. He often related how dearly he loved Dawn. Lisa said her dad was a wonderful man, father, husband, brother, and friend, and their bond only grew as they aged. He enjoyed boating, golf, backgammon, crosswords, and Justin’s prime rib and was sharp as a tack until the very end. Lisa knew she was loved.

Ted was also preceded in death by his lifelong friend and mentor, Dr. Alan Stoddard. To the Stoddard family, let it be known that Dr. Stoddard’s impact on Ted’s life cannot be understated and his passing was felt deeply.

Ted was enormously grateful to his friends who supported him through the final chapter of life. Their friendships meant the world to Lisa’s dad and mom.

As the only child of Ted and Pamela, Lisa will carry the torch her parents handed to her and learn to endure their deep absence in her life. Lisa loves her dad so much. I won’t let him down.

Burial service will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing, MI, on August 10th, 2024, at 10:00am.
