William P. Falsetta, our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was called home to the Lord on Thursday, March 31st. He was 95 years old.
Born in Grand Ledge on February 24th, 1921, he graduated from St. Mary's Cathedral and was a member of St. Casimir Church.
He served our country in the U.S Army in World War II as a member of the 340th Quartermaster Depot Company. During his active duty, he participated in the D-Day Invasion of France on Utah Beach as a 50 Caliber machine gunner.
Bill owned harness horses and loved going to the racetrack with his family.
He opened the original Casa Nova Restaurant on Logan St. in 1951, and devoted his time to operating the restaurant for 37 years. He helped open the new, current S. Waverly location in 1991. He continued to work or stop by to check in until he passed. His love for the restaurant and customers shone through every day.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Carolyn G. Falsetta; children, Toni (Mark) Falsetta, William II "Billy" (Lori) Falsetta, Tim (Kelly) Carpenter, Terry (Carolyn) Carpenter, Marnie Elden, and Erika (Jim) Radwan; brother, Sam (Stella) Falsetta; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and several other family members and friends. William was preceded in death by his son Rick, David, and Chad; parents, Joe and Rose Falsetta; sisters, Mary Jo Falsetta and Sarah Fortino; brothers, John, Tony, Tommy, and Richard Falsetta.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M on Tuesday April 5, with the Funeral Liturgy beginning at 11:00 A.M Tuesday, April 5, at St. Casimir Catholic Church, 815 Sparrow, Lansing, with Fr. Bill Lugger presiding. Rite of Committal will be at St. Joseph Cemetery with Military Honors by V.F.W. Post #701. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Casmir Church or the Mother Teresa House in memory of William. Friends may visit the guest book at www.tiffanyfuneralhome.com.
