

Albert Eugene Holm was born in New York City on September 8, 1925 and died February 3, 2014. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Paul Gregory, his oldest son Grant Allen and his wife of forty-nine years, Betty Lee (Dunn) Holm. He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Lynn Zahn of Dodge City, Kansas, son Lloyd (Gretchen) Holm of Washington, Iowa, and son Albert (Julie) Holm, Jr. of Muskegon, Michigan in addition to eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Albert attended New Town Technical High School in NYC before moving to Louisville, KY in 1943. Drafted into the United States Army in 1944, he served honorably in the 100th Infantry Division and entered WW2 with the 7th Army, landing in Marseille, France in August of 1944 in support of the Allied invasion of Europe. Wounded in action, he was also awarded a Bronze Star for heroism during the Battle of the Bulge near Bitche, France. After the war he and Betty married in Louisville and he continued his engineering studies at the General Motors Institute of Technology in Flint, Michigan. After graduating in 1951 he worked at the Hudson Motor Car Company in Detroit. Following this he was employed by Beach Engineering of Walled Lake, Michigan, Elox Corporation of Troy, Michigan where he was a pioneer in EDM (electrical discharge machining), and Ingersoll Milling and Machine of Rockford, Illinois. In 1976 he founded Testrite, Inc, Marine City, Michigan, a leader in air-leak test engineering and manufacturing. During the course of his career five U.S. Patents in air-leak testing have been granted in his name.
Albert especially enjoyed fishing along the St. Clair River during his time in Marine City as well as his grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews in California. All who knew him appreciated his story telling, sense of humor, and creative practical jokes.
