Allen Ray Stidham, 74, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at his home in Clearwater, Florida. He was born on March 28, 1948 in Coeburn, Virginia to Luther Dayton and Delcie Mae Elkins Stidham. He was a sweet gentle soul who was fiercely devoted to his family. He married the love of his life, Teena, on April 19, 1974 and was a devoted husband and Teena’s best friend. He was a patient and loving father to his daughter Ashlee.
Allen managed a lumber yard until it closed then went to work for the City of Clearwater as a supervisor for the Tradesworkers team of the Parks and Recreation Department. During this time, he earned his National Playground Inspector’s Certification and was very proud of this achievement. He couldn’t pass up a playground without inspecting it, regardless of what state he was visiting! He retired from the City after 20+ years of service.
Allen enjoyed spending time with family and listening to music, especially bluegrass, classic country, and gospel. He liked to watch NASCAR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers football, and college football, especially the Florida Gators and Florida State Seminoles. He was also an expert handyman and an avid collector of knives, ball caps, watches and coins.
He is survived by his wife, Teena, daughter Ashlee, and two grandsons, Hunter Allen and Dakota Allen Joseph Stidham, all of Clearwater, FL.
He is also survived by brothers, David Stidham, wife Katie of Huntersville, NC and Daril Stidham, wife Brenda of Bristol, TN, sisters Velma Morrell of Bristol, TN and Rita Whitley of Clearwater, FL, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and a special, close family friend James Jackson, wife Anne of Clearwater, FL.
