

Lt. Colonel Barry Alan Brinkley, age 82, of Seminole, Florida, a beloved husband, uncle, and friend was called home by the Lord on Monday, August 12, 2024. Barry was born on August 09, 1942 in his beloved hometown Clarksburg, West Virginia. Barry led a remarkable life marked by distinguished service, scholarship, and a passion for the arts.
Barry earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from West Virginia University and a Master’s of Science from the University of Texas in El Paso. He was certified by the Board of Engineers and had a notable career in both active military service and civil engineering. Barry’s career highlights include teaching at West Point, authoring a comprehensive computer manual, and working with General Norman Schwarzkopf at MacDill Air Force Base. He served in Korea, Germany, and Vietnam, where he was wounded. His exemplary military service was recognized with numerous decorations.
A virtuoso pianist, Barry started to play at the tender 4 years of age and went on to perform professionally. He had a deep love for music. He also had a passion for animals, golf, sharing culinary experiences with his wife Tanya, and cherished spending time with his family and friends. He excelled in technology and computers as it was his life's work.
Barry is survived by his dedicated wife, Tanya; his nephew, Mike Brinkley; nieces and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Velma Brinkley; brother, Tim Brinkley; and his first wife, Pat.
A visitation for Barry will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, Florida 33774, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to local no-kill animal shelters. Barry’s legacy of service, love, and dedication will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
