

He was born June 12, 1949 in Dayton, OH, son of the late Clifford and Irene (McNutt) McCroskey. After high school, David was drafted into the Army. He went to Vietnam to serve his country proudly and he was a decorated hero. David was wounded in Vietnam and was decorated with several medals and Citations which include The Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Three Bronze Service Stars, Republic Of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm Device, Republico of Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal Unit Citation First Class, Combat Infantryman Badge and Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle).
Preceded in death by brother, Stephen L. McCroskey; and nephew, Jeremy L. McCroskey.
David is survived by son, Brian McCroskey of Bradyville, TN; brother, Frank G. McCroskey (Karen) of Naples FL; and sisters, Karen S. Doll (Robert) of Naples, FL, Sharon L. “Mitti” Bodkin (John Richter III) of Largo FL, and Patricia A. Bacon Senn of Cookeville, TN; three grandchildren; his buddies, John Bodkin, and David “Clete” Bacon, Brett Flippen, Craig Morris and numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation and Memorial Service and Reception will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Moss Feaster Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774, (727) 562-2080.
David will rest, with full military honors on Thursday, December 2nd, 2010 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
David, you will be greatly missed and you are forever in our hearts. Rest in peace until we meet again.
