Dick Shannon went to be with the Lord on September 28th at his Largo home.
He was a wonderful husband, father, and friend. With a Bachelor of Science
from Xavier College, Cincinnati OH and Master of Fine Arts from the Catholic
University of American, Washington DC, Dick was a technical and medical writer.
Dick's real passion was cooking and the theater. He served many gourmet meals to friends and family.
With over 50 years of theater experience, Dick was an accomplished actor, director,
teacher, and playwrighter. He studied directing and playwrighting under notables Walter Kerr
and Alan Schneider. His original plays have been produced in many theaters around the
U.S. including Little Theatre Group of Hamilton Ohio, Circle Players in Washington DC,
Clearwater Little Theatre, and St. Petersburg Little Theatre.
Dick was a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1961. He was a faithful and active
member of St. Patricks Church, where he also served as a board member, a Lectoral,
and a Minister of Communion. Dick is survived by his wife, Phyllis; 6 children:
Michael, Patrick, Jeannine, Richard, Mary Lou, and Theresa; 14 grandchildren;
10 great grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Mainous, and a brother, Thomas Shannon.
