Dorothy J. Hunt

Dorothy Hunt, nee Gross, of Seminole, passed away at home on May 14, 2025 at the age of 98. She was born in NYC and was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church. After the death of her beloved husband, John J. (Jack) Hunt, she finished nursing school and worked from the age of 60 at Morton Plant, Hospice, and Kimberly Home, from where she retired at the age of 89.

She was preceded in death by her mother Mary (Mamie), and during WWII by her father Edward Gross and brother Stewart. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Hunt, her granddaughter, Jessica (Philip) Olkoski, and two great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and great-grandnieces and -nephews. While she outlived all her childhood friends and most of her friends from their early days in Florida in the ‘60s, she continued to make friends through church and especially through work, throughout her life.

The family will host a visitation on Tuesday, May 27 from 4pm to 7pm at Serenity Funeral Home on Indian Rocks Road. The funeral Mass will take place at 11 am on Wednesday, May 28 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, followed by interment services at Bay Pines National Cemetery.
