Douglas J. Sellers, Jr.

Douglas Jackson Sellers Jr, 81 of Belleair Beach, Florida, passed away on May 12, 2014, surrounded by family in his home of the last 40 years. He was born October 17,1932 in Birmingham, Alabama. He is preceded in death by his parents Douglas Sr. and Marie Sellers. He is survived by his wife Nancy, sister Margie Robinson, sons Steven, Michael, Barton, Gregory, grandchildren Douglas, Madison, and Lauren Sellers. Raised in Birmingham, Alabama, he graduated from Shades Valley High School and Auburn University. He and Nancy were married May 15,1955. Upon graduation he served two years in the U.S. Army, then began his 30+ year career at Sears where he was a store manager in many cities throughout the southeast United States. He retired as store manager of Sears in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1985. He was an active member of the Rotary Club and served on the Board of Directors for Goodwill and Community Alliance. He was a member of Largo United Methodist & Anona United Methodist Church. Always an avid conversationalist and lifelong Auburn University fan, he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 19th at 1:00 p.m., Memorial Service will begin at 2:00 p.m., Anona United Methodist Church, 13233 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774. Reception will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Anona United Methodist Church and Suncoast Hospice.
