Evelyn Joyce Lewis

Evelyn Joyce Brackin Bintliff Lewis, age 83 of Largo, died on Saturday, April 13. Joyce was born in in Tampa, FL on December 21, 1940. She was raised in Ft. Meade, FL and came to Pinellas County from Willingboro, NJ in 1973. She graduated high school in Burlington, NJ in 1958, and from St. Petersburg College in 1995 with a degree in Architectural Design and Construction Technology. Joyce was married to Leonard Bintliff, the father of her children for 16 years. In 2012, Joyce reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Jack E. Lewis, whom she had loved for sixty years. They were married a few weeks later. Her beloved Jack passed away in January 2015 after a long illness.

Joyce had various occupations, including floral designer, librarian, Real Estate agent, restaurant-bar manager, retailing and administrative assistant. She was a Christian homemaker devoted to her family, pets, and plants. She loved the many plants and animals of nature and traveling. Joyce is predeceased by her husband, Jack and her parents Dock Brackin and Jessie Evelyn Macomber. survivors include her daughter. Teri Lee Bintliff Slaughter and husband Rob of Belleair Bluffs, her son Gary Bintliff and wife Tara, of Clearwater, two grandchildren, Chelsea Marie Bintliff and Amanda Leigh Bintliff Hill, two great grandsons and one great granddaughter; her brother John Brackin and his wife Tina of Edgewater, FL, a sister Marion Myers and her husband Tom; and special sister/cousins Delores Riggs, Judy Hansen and Kay Cason.

Serenity Gardens in Largo will handle all arrangements. Joyce will be inurned at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL with her husband Jack, at a later date.

Being mostly raised in Polk County, Florida, Joyce felt very strongly about the words of Edward Bok, who built Bok Tower in Lake Wales. Mr. Bok once said "Make you the world a bit better or more beautiful because you have lived in it."
