ALTERMAN, Harold M. “Hal”, 74, of Clearwater, passed away on September 29, 2014. He is survived by Lynn, the love of his life and wife of 45 years. A native New Yorker, Hal graduated from Columbia University Business School. He moved to Florida in 1997. His wide-ranging record of accomplishment as NBC’s Seoul and Barcelona Olympic Games Marketing Director was his proudest professional achievement. Hal was also a published author, award-winning advertising sales executive, NBC Marketing Creative Director, Television News and Sports Writer-Producer, marketing consultant, youth soccer coach and college instructor. He was a combative local Democratic political activist, too. A renowned fantasy baseball competitor and writer, Hal loved Ray’s baseball, swimming in the Gulf, foreign travel, USF’s enriching Adult Auditors program, the Clearwater Jazz Holiday, plus the bountiful music and theatrical events Tampa Bay offers. Daughter Allison of New Mexico and siblings Stephen, Katie, Judy, Michael and Julian also survive him. A Memorial Gathering will be held 3 pm Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Temple B’nai Israel in Clearwater. Donations may be made to Temple B’Nai Israel in lieu of flowers.
