

Air Force, Mr. Jones attended the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Tampa, where he majored in business administration. During the 2016 Imperial Session, Mr. Jones was re-elected Imperial Recorder of Shriners International, a position he held for 36 years. As Imperial Recorder, he served on the Board of Directors for Shriners International and Shriners Hospitals for Children. He also served as Imperial Potentate of Shriners International in 2009-2010, and as the Executive Vice President of Shriners International from 2010 to 2015. He is a recipient of several Masonic awards, including the Benjamin Franklin Medal from the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania; the Henry Price Medal from the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts; the Andrew Jackson Medal from the Grand Lodge of Tennessee; and The Distinguished Service Award from the Grand Lodge of New York (posthumously). He is an emeritus member of the DeMolay International Supreme Council and a recipient of the DeMolay Grand Cross and DeMolay Legion of Honor. He was elected honorary Grand Master of DeMolay International in 2009. In 2006, he was presented the Imperial Potentate’s Award of Merit, which is the highest honor in the Shriners fraternity. He is a recipient of the Knights Templar Grand Cross, and is a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason Inspector General Honorary, and recipient of the Grand Cross of Honor, awarded by the Scottish Rite Supreme Council of Freemasonry, Southern Jurisdiction. Mr. Jones Masonic affiliations include Egypt Shriners, Hillsborough Lodge #25, F. & A.M., Tampa York Rite, Tampa Scottish Rite, Red Cross of Constantine, Order of Quetzalcoatl, Royal Order of Jesters and National Sojourners. He is survived by two sons, Steve Jones (Susan), and Brian Jones; four grandchildren, Jerod, Jessica, Valerie, and Ryan, and one great-grandchild, Owen. Public visitation hours are scheduled for Wednesday, May 3 from 12 to 3 pm at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center, 5500 Memorial Highway, Tampa, FL 33634. A memorial tribute and Masonic Service will begin at 3 pm. A private graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, May 4 in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Inverness, FL.
