James F. Monahan, age 61, of Indian Rocks Beach, Florida passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2020. James was born October 2, 1958 in Chelmsford, Massachusetts to William and Betty Monahan. He has 2 siblings Mike Monahan and Paul Monahan.
Growing up, Jim played football as well as gymnastics and diving. He had two best friends, Pat and Dave. He graduated from McDowell High School in 1976 and went on to receive his bachelors from Mercyhurst University and was on the Dean's List through out college.
After college, Jim went on to become a police officer for 23 years and eventually retiring in Indian Rocks Beach, FL. During his time as a police officer, he received numerous commendations. He married the love of his life, Nancy Laning, on June 4, 2005. Jim has one son, Jason Monahan; 2 step-children, John and Elizabeth Devarti, and two grandchildren, Kylan and Kaiya. Jim enjoyed coin collecting, taking cruises all over the world with Nancy, watching Cliff Diving, and going on relaxing bike rides.
A gathering of friends for James will be held Saturday, August 22, 2020 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774. A memorial service will occur Saturday, August 22, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774.
