Marine Colonel Jim Turner Story is going to save thousands of Veterans. I had recently posted about him to highlight the importance of things veterans deal with. The responses has shaken America Across all the way up to CEOs and now congress. I hope if you have linked in you will come across it. My condolences to your family. He nore your Family will never be forgotten.-Hope

I'm sure it's way too late to express my condolences, but as I was searching for my old Baltimore Calvert School and early Gilman School classmate and childhood friend, "Jimmy" Turner, !!! I came across this very sad obituary of his son.

I lost track of his Dad many years ago, but in my old age wondered if he was still with us. I can see the resemblance in his son and I suspect the love of adventure carried down from father to son, actually from grandfather Jim, Jr., whom I also knew, to grandson if I'm not mistaken.

A wonderful, exciting and interesting family.  

I remember Scottie and I think there was a sister.

If anyone is still reading this I'd love a little history. And please, accept my sincere condolences.

Jim had the only private bedroom in our fraternity house, around the hall from mine. He really lived life to the max and was a genuine person, well respected and fair. He was loud with a great sense of humor. His voice was very distinctive and I could pick him out in a crowd. In my observation, he would do the right thing, even if it was not popular.  I knew I could count on him.  I admired that he knew exactly where he was going in life. Over these many years as my friends and I have drifted apart, I did wonder where he was .... especially during the gulf wars. I can see that he touched many lives.   While life drifts us apart, friends still live in our hearts. It's a sorrowful way to reconnect with an old friend. My sincere condolences to his family and children.   

I had the honor of meeting and working with COL Turner in Afghanistan in 2013. What a great officer to work for. I along with others deployed as part of a CENTCOM Find & Fix Team and spent several months in Bagram. No matter what my team needed, he was always there. Being away from home during the holidays is never easy, but COL Turner made sure each and every one of us had a great Thanksgiving Meal and a little bit of down time.  It was a thorough pleasure to engage in conversation or reach out to him for assistance day or night.  I was at a complete loss for words when the news of his sudden passing reached me here in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, but I felt it was important to share my memories. A great man and a true Marine. Rest In Peace Colonel Turner.  I had the honor of serving with Jim in Iraq in 2003.   We fought together everyday from the time we crossed the border until we entered Baghdad.  He was a fine Marine and leader.  Later,  we would serve together at CENTCOM and he recommended me for a position in Afghanistan.   It is with a heavy heart that I write this message  today.  Truly a tragedy to learn of his passing.    So sorry for this loss.  May his soul be at peace.   Devil Dogs!

God Bless you Brother, did not know you Jim, but I feel your pain, read your story today and it really got to me, I'm a Vietnam veteran with PTSD, and would off liked the chance to talk and help you if I could off, it breaks my heart that you did not get the help that you needed, and deserved, Slow hand Salute my brother, God Speed !


My fondest memories of Jim is when I was cutting his hair . He was like a baby brother. We laughed so much , we talked about our political views but mostly about God . He was always talking about kaylee and Jimbo his children and the love he had for them. When he talked about his children Jim’s eyes just lit up . He was such a special person . Jim will surly be missy. I know he is in heaven with Jesus 

It's hard to put into words the loss.   Jimmy work for my father years years years ago but it seems like only yesterday. He became a part of our family. My father loved him like a son and we are proud to call him our spirit brother.  He will be missed for sure.
