

Jean L. Weaver, aged 90, of Palm Harbor, Florida, and formerly a longtime resident of Ephrata, Pennsylvania, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at the Suncoast Hospice Care Center in Palm Harbor. She was born on June 17, 1933, in Ephrata, to parents Jennie and Benjamin Kreider.
Jean was a 1951 graduate of Ephrata High School. She used the skills acquired in her education to pursue a career with local banks, where she served in a variety of roles including as a teller and assisted bank mergers. She later worked as an Ephrata Township tax collector.
On October 9, 1954, she married the late Kenneth R. Weaver, and together they shared many beautiful decades in Pennsylvania until retiring to their dream destination, Largo, Florida, in 1991.
“Great-grandma Jean” was a woman of many talents and interests, with a special love for music. Her beautiful soprano voice graced the choirs and choral groups of Pennsylvania and Florida, and led to several journeys of Christian fellowship to European churches including in Germany. Her musical gifts also led her to become an accomplished pianist and organist.
Jean's passions extended to travel as well, most notably ocean cruises. She treasured her adventures to Caribbean destinations and was especially fond of a sightseeing trip that took her from the Pacific Northwest to the Alaskan coast.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She is survived by her daughter, Kim, wife of Michael Wintersteen of Danville, Pennsylvania; her son, Terry, husband of Sarah, of Clearwater, Florida; her grandchildren, Kyle Wintersteen, husband of Amanda, and Erika, wife of Kevin Vargo; her great-grandchildren, Jackson and Grant Wintersteen, and Sophie and Bryce Vargo; and her step-grandsons, Marc and Michael Andrews.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at Anona United Methodist Church, 13233 Indian Rocks Rd, Largo, FL 33774, Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 11 a.m. for family and friends. Interment will take place at Serenity Gardens following the service.
