Jeffery completed his Primary education in Barbados but moved to the US and graduated High School in Brooklyn, New York.
He attended New York University and met Sharon Bryant, who would become his wife in June of 1979. Also, in 1979 he along with Sharon inherited a moody teenager, Sabrina. Jeffery completed his Bachelor’s Degree and went on to pursue his Masters' Degree at Long Island University. In November of 1980, his first son, Delisle was born. Soon after Delisle’s birth, the little family relocated to Tucson, Arizona.
Jeffery worked at a few jobs until he found a position at the IRS. But he was unsatisfied with that and continued looking until he landed a job with the DEA. After a transfer to Washington State in 1986, Sharon & Jeffery decided to increase the size of their family and adopted brothers Dwayne & Anthony. The family moved again to Atlanta, Ga. Sadly, in 1999 Sharon & Jeffery ended their marriage.
Jeffery took several DEA assignments in Central America over the next few years. During this time, he earned many Awards and commendations. Upon his return to the US in 2007, Jeffery retired after many years of service and married Jocelin Del Carmen, whom he met in the Dominican Republic. They settled in Savannah, Ga until their divorce in March 2011.
Jeffery then relocated to Florida, and became a devoted and beloved grandfather to Ariel, Khalia, and later Elijah. He spent most weekends with the girls at the Museum of Space and Industry, bounce house venues, parks, and fairs. It is in this role that he was truly able to shine, the love he poured into his grandchildren was beautiful. He attended all of their school events and was at every important occasion of their lives, always with bouquets of flowers.
Jeffery enjoyed his daily Starbucks and made sure that Ariel & Khalia became Starbucks snobs also. He was an avid sports fan, especially soccer. Jeffery was a long-time member of the NARFE-National Association of Retired Federal Employees as well as an active NYU alumnus.
He leaves to cherish his memory: Sharon, Sabrina, Sons: Delisle, Dwayne & Anthony. Grandchildren: Ariel, Khalia & Elijah. Siblings: Marquita, Harriet, Michael, Barbara, Gregory, nephew Tony who was more of a brother than a nephew, and a host of nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces.
A Celebration of Life for Jeffery will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, Florida 33774, followed by a reception at 1:00 PM.
