We always looked forward to those Summer visits of Uncle John and family. All of the Aunts, Uncles & cousins would meet at Grandma & Grandpa Schmid's, and when we were all there, we were legion! The times were full of family, fun, poker nights (for the adults), Alice's famous "beer chicken" & patio lights, badminton, and tons of other activities. I remember one particular time when Uncle John rounded up a bunch of the "cousins" and took us down to Slippery Rock Creek. The fact that none of us had worn bathing suits did not stop the fun as we thoroughly enjoyed sliding down some of those very large rocks into the water on a hot summer day. There might have been a few adults who were a bit put out upon our return as we were all soaking wet, but it was summer, we were kids, and we were all together having some fun.

Although Uncle John will be deeply missed, I know that he is with Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Larry, and my Dad as I'm sure that they all met him on his arrival in Heaven. I am also sure that there just might be a game or two of penny ante poker going on up there, along with a few bottles of brew. Rest well!

First met John and Pat in 1965 in San Diego many fond memories of those times He had such a wit. We went to many music venues with them .  H e will be fondly remembered by our family.

We were very young maybe 3, 4 & 5 when I first remember Uncle John visiting. He was sound asleep and my dad - Larry (John’s brother) took all my sisters into his room and had us sing at the top of our lungs “Are you sleeping, are you sleeping, brother John, brother John? Morning bells are ringing, morning bells are ringing, ding ding dong” He woke up in a hurry and then we all went to the zoo! Great childhood memory! Rest In Peace Uncle John. I’m sure your brothers were waiting for you when you crossed over - three Schmid boys together again! ❤️❤️❤️
