Debbie, Neil, and Stan, My prayers are with all of you.

Grandpa, 

I have so many wonderful memories from my childhood.  Family gatherings were always the best at your home in Seminole.  You and Grandma were so tolerant of our crazy kid antics.  I can still picture that house.  I remember running through the halls, hiding in the closets, playing outside around the tree, messing with your organ/piano, and messing with Pixie.  I remember sitting on the floor watching all the dads watch football on Thanksgiving.  I can still taste Grandma's bread rolls, and smell all the wonderful smells from the kitchen.  

I miss her so much, but I know you missed her too.  I know you two are in heaven together, healthy and happy.  You can always be with us now, and I pray that you will be.  Thank you for all that you have provided us through the years.  Thank you for the childhood memories and providing a warm place for us kids to play and grow up together.  

I love you Grandpa and Grandma.

Please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of your dad. My dad, who passed away a couple of years ago, also served in WWII in the Marine Corp. I am sure you are as proud of your Dad as I am of mine, as they both defended our freedom, that we enjoy today.  Rob

A lot of memories come to mind when I think of Grandpa.  Among them are butter cookies from a tin, playing hide-and-seek on Thanksgiving, Pixie and great hair!  But the thing that has made the most lasting impression on me was how much he loved Grandma.  They were perfect for one another and he truly cherished her.  Their life-long love has been a wonderful example for Dan and I to follow in our marriage.  I take comfort in knowing that he is reunited with Grandma at last in Heaven.

I am so thankful that our 3 daughters, Berlin, Courteney and Scarlett, were able to meet Grandpa.  Scarlett, our youngest, looks so much like him.  I will be reminded of him every time she smiles.

Grandpa was a hero to our country and our family. We will miss him so much, but know he is happy now with our Lord and Grandma.

The first, and fondest memory that comes to mind when I think about Grandpa are the tricks he always used to play one me.  When I was a kid, he would always have a quarter in his pocket.  He'd take that quarter and make it dissappear in so many ways with his sleight of hand skills.  To this day, it still amazes me at how skillful he was at making that quarter disappear.  He got the biggest kick out of it and I'll never forget his smile when I begged and pleaeded for him to tell me how he did it.  His reply....."A magician never tells his secrets".  Now that I'm old enough to know that the quarter wasn't really disappearing nor was it ever coming out of my ear.....but I still can't do it like he did.  Words can't describe the sorrow and guilt I feel for not being able to see him in the last year of his life.  I'm comforted by the fact that I have so many great memories of Grandpa that will never be forgotten.  He was such a great man...a great person.  And boy, was he hilarious.  Whether he was trying to be, or not.  

It gives me joy knowing that he is in heaven and has been reunited with Grandma, which is what I believe what he wanted most.  He will never be forgotten and will forever be a part of my life.  I'll miss you and love you Grandpa.

Lauren was my father-in-law for almost 36 years! He always had to have the best of everything...5th wheeler camper, cars,trucks,lawn and house on the block! He sure did pass that on to his 3 kids! He was a very attentive dad, always helping his young married kids with choosing their homes, yards and bushes, home improvement projects and car choices. They even loaned us the down payment to buy the home we are still in...with more interest than the bank was paying...that was a fair deal! He loved his grandchildren and loved laughing with them and teasing them and doing tricks to amaze them. He bought all of his kids cars before they were old enough to drive them, with the expectation they would pay him back. And they did. He went to all of the boys' Little League baseball games...there were lots of them; they each played for 15 years with major league potential. He loved travelling via campers and even let his kids use them when they were mature enough to travel! He spent many years delighting all of us and the grandkids with his heroism during WWII. His stories were fresh in his mind till the end, but were mesmerizing to all who heard them retold. We are all honored that he served America with such bravery and dedication. Neil and I had the honor to take his parents to see the WWII Memorial the weekend it opened in 2004. Even then it was difficult physically for both of them, but they never complained and persevered to see all there was to see...everyone we passed stopped to thank him for his service. It was unbelievable, it made him so proud to be part of the "greatest generation." They both shared lots of stories of his experiences, her time alone without her husband and about the forever friends he met while serving. He loved and depended on his beloved Boneta...he would get a little put out that she had sewing and quilting to do when he wanted her to watch the TV, just like him! He was a great eater...he loved everything! He really loved sweets, and I am sure Boneta prolonged his life by 10 years by being the sugar police when his diabetes showed up! While visiting at the nursing home, when he could, he still made us laugh and brought light to the siutation he was facing...at one facility, he told us about a woman patient who crawled in his bed with him! He left all of us with his emphasis on honesty, hard work, humor and the necessity to take care of things and keep them the best you could. His love and dedication for America hopefully will be a strong source of pride and service for his grandchildren and great grandchildren in the years to come. He has left us with great memories, but it is time for us to let go and send him to be with Boneta, where he is most at home and most content. Thank you, Lauren
