Lea Dyan Umberger

The Family of Lea Dyan Umberger is saddened to announce her passing on April 25th, 2023. She passed peacefully, at her home in Clearwater, Florida surrounded by her loved ones following a lengthy battle with Ovarian Cancer.

Lea was born October 5th, 1975, in Camarillo California to Noralee and Melvin Umberger. She was preceded in death by Melvin Umberger (father), Kenneth Ford (stepfather), Curtis Ford (brother) Joe Marie Winters, John & Lenora Kratz (grandparents), and John McEwen (uncle).

She will be missed by (mother) Noralee Ford, (sisters): Marissa Lewis, Krista Ford, Marlane Gati and Angelia Ford-Ochoa (nieces) Sierra Umberger, Emilee Daniels, Natalie & Markie Riendeau, Sarah Gati Alfano, Emma Gati, Summer & Anastasia Ochoa. (nephews) Zachary Ford, Pell Lewis IV, Ian Oster-roode, Ayden Riendeau, and Nicholas Gati and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Creative and multi-talented Lea held a Bachelor of Art degree from USF (1998) and Master of Fine Arts in Set and Costume Design/Film from NYU (2003).

Lea was a producer of “Little Satchmo,” an award winning and Emmy Nominated documentary film of Louis Armstrong. This journey was entrusted by Sharon Preston-Folta and shared by John Alexander and JC Guess. As Arts Project Manager for Creative Pinellas, she helped local artists display their art/murals all over Pinellas County, Florida. She served as programmer for “Listen Up Film Series” with Daddy-Cool Records. Lea was Managing Art Director for Home Shopping Network (HSN) for 8 years. Providing stylists/design support for celebrity shows, culinary events and special program concerts. She additionally served as visiting professor in costume and set design all over the United States and performed interior design under her own business.

Interment services are limited to immediate family. A Celebration of Life will be held, Saturday, October 14th, 2023 from 10am - 12pm at Creative Pinellas, 12211 Walsingham Road, Largo, FL 33778.
