Mary Jo Crawford

Mary Jo was born March 13, 1931 in Liberty, Kentucky. She was the daughter of William Ralph and Doll Elizabeth Wilkerson Cundiff and the sister of the late Betty Jean Cundiff Hisle.(Leon). Mary Jo is predeceased by her loving husband ,Dr. Ben Wade Crawford; ( Dec 2, 2008.) She is survived by her daughters Jennifer Leigh Crawford of Redington Shores, Fl., Leslie Crawford Echave of Tampa, Fl., and Wendy Lynne Longmire (Jay) of Nashville, TN. She was very proud of her four grandchildren, Logan Wade Echave and Evan Emilio Echave of Tampa, Fl., Wade Alexander Longmire (Natalie) of Austin, TX., and Madison Longmire Fisher(Cody) of Charlottesville, Va.

Mary Jo was a graduate of Ward Belmont and the Louisville General Hospital School of Nursing of Louisville, Ky.in 1953. It was there she met her husband Ben, a medical student. She and her husband enjoyed a full life in Lexington, Ky , raising their three daughters and celebrating with good food and friends. She was an excellent cook, loved to travel and enjoyed horse racing. In 2007, she and her husband moved permanently to Florida where they could enjoy the surf and the many friends they made while living at The Tides .A group of them enjoyed owning a race horse together and traveling to watch their horse, Exclusive Hopper, race. Mary Jo was a true blue Kentucky Basketball fan, and traveled to Rupp Arena to cheer on the Cats until the end.

She had a true Joie de vivre.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 29th at 12:30 p.m. at Lexington Cemetery, Lexington,Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made at www.serenityfuneralhomelargo.com
