
Nancy H. Ballard, of St. Petersburg, passed away Monday afternoon at the Springs of Boca Ciega Bay, where she was compassionately cared for during the last two weeks of her life.
Nancy was a 30-year resident of St. Petersburg, but was born in Simpsonville, Kentucky on March 10, 1925. She was an accounting clerk at the L&N Railroad corporate offices in Louisville, Kentucky until the birth of her only child in 1961. She traveled extensively throughout the country with her sister, brother, friends and colleagues until her marriage. Nancy met her husband in a company bowling league, as he was also employed for 41 years at the L&N in Louisville. They relocated to St. Pete in 1984.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mary Catherine (Oder) Hyatt and step-father Howard Karlen, sister Ola Mae Blankenbaker and brother Edward Hyatt, all also of Louisville.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ralph Ballard; her daughter Karla Stahl (Briggs) of Odessa; her granddaughters Megan and Marissa; her nephew Dan Hyatt (Shelley); great-nieces Moira, Sylvia and Alora Hyatt; and several nephews and nieces-in-law, and their families.
Funeral will be 2:00pm Sunday Feb. 15th at Serenity Funeral Home, Largo. Visitation will be two hours prior from 12-2pm at the funeral home. The family welcomes flowers or donations in her memory to Northside Baptist Church General Fund. www.serenityfuneralhomelargo.com
