We'd love to share some thoughts on Becky - in her own words....
I'm a coach, artist, educator, writer, and geek living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Type 2. I believe in the transformative powers of honesty and creativity.
Diagnosed with a severe neuromuscular disability as an infant, I was nearly unable to hold a pen to sign my name in 2012. As part of my physical therapy, I began coloring, and then using watercolors; as my hand strength and control grew, I started working with brush pens for hand-lettering, and eventually pointed-pen calligraphy. I now describe myself as a multimedia artist on a journey of personal and artistic discovery!
My hope and intention is that in sharing my art, I also will share inspiration, empowerment, and beauty. Just like my body, my work isn't perfect, but I believe that's where true beauty lies. I especially hope my art speaks to other people who have faced challenges that seem insurmountable, or just need a reminder of their own power. On this journey I've learned that these challenges really are our greatest opportunities and blessings. Join me as my journey continues — and find the imperfect beauty all around you!
