Dr. Richard "Dick" A. Murbach

Richard “Dick” Allen Murbach, MD of Clearwater, FL passed away at the age of 74 on April 14, 2021. He was born in Wauseon, OH on February 23, 1947 to Reverend John and Alvira Murbach (predeceased). He spent his childhood in Lancing, MI. As a young man he knew he wanted to be a doctor, and he pursued his dream and graduated from the University of Michigan (Go Blue) with a bachelor’s degree and then continued on to complete medical school. He completed his residency at the University of Florida and his Cardiothoracic Surgery training at Emory University. Dick joined Cardiac Surgical Associates in Clearwater and was a heart surgeon mainly practicing at Morton Plant Hospital. He became a skilled and compassionate surgeon devoted to curing many in the community. Many who were blessed to be cared for by Dr. Murbach went on to lead long lives and were proud to wear the mark of Murbach. He married Louriese Crissinger (predeceased) and they raised two beautiful daughters, Tracy and Tyanna. In 1989 he married Susan Schweiger, and they spent 31 happy years together. They were blessed with a daughter Chelsea and son Richard, Jr. He loved to travel the world with his family, and in his retirement years he often worked with Global Jet Care as a flight doctor. On most Thursdays you would find him volunteering at the Clearwater Free Clinic. Dr. Dick made many mission trips to Guatemala with the “Hands of Healing” through his church, Anona United Methodist. Dick had many passions and had a beautiful singing voice. He loved to sing at church on Sundays with the Anona choir and with the Harolds of Harmony, a men’s vocal group, often competing around the country. Boating and fishing with his family were always a joy and ways to relax. His boats were always appropriately named “Diastole”, the resting stage of the heart. As a fan of college football, he was often conflicted on which hat to wear, either Michigan blue or Alabama red where two of his children attended. In his retirement years, he took up golf. He was a member of the Belleair Country Club and loved to have a competitive game with his many golf buddies. However, his biggest passion was sharing his life with his family and many friends. Always with a caring eye, a helping hand and big smile. Dick was a loving, compassionate man loved by many and will be sorely missed. May God grant eternal light upon him as he enters the kingdom of Heaven. Rest in peace our friend.
