Robert F. Starr, born February 17, 1937 in Clearwater Florida. He was the son of Sidney C. Starr and Ruthe E. Starr. Bob graduated from Clearwater High School and moved on to become an alumnus at the University of Florida and Georgia Tech. Bob served in both the National Guard and the Coast Guard and was a former member of AIA. His career in architecture was influenced by his early years working side by side with his father. Many local buildings were designed by Bob, including Hunter Blood Center, several medical offices, and numerous private residences. His passion for traveling, likely rooted in his time working on the Jack Tar demolition on Grand Bahama, was only eclipsed by his enjoyment in spending time with his family, listening to good music, and cultivating the abundance of plants around the house. Bob died peacefully in his home on June 20, 2014. Bob is survived by his wife of 44 years Gwenyth R. Starr, his daughter Melanie Davis, his brother Jerry Starr, and many loving relatives. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to Suncoast Hospice or a charity of your choosing. A private memorial service will be held on a date to be determined.
