

Born May 25, 1976, in Durham, North Carolina, he was the beloved son of Janice Crisorio Joy and Ronald Craig Joy.
A local graduate of Clearwater High School, Ryan went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Human Environmental Sciences from the University of Alabama. He dedicated his career to the food industry, serving as Senior Director of Menu Development for Checkers Drive-in Restaurants.
Ryan was a devoted husband to Heather Hovland Joy, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories. Ryan and Heather were married on October 23, 2004 and became a proud father of his two sons, Dylan Ryan, 16, and Kellen James, 13.
Ryan is survived by his beloved wife, Heather; sons, Dylan Ryan and Kellen James Joy; parents, Janice and Ronald Craig Joy; sisters, Holly Joy Eakes (Christopher) and Cristi Joy, as well as his nieces and nephews: Garrett, Ava, Isla, and Easton. He was sadly predeceased by his infant daughter, Presley Paige, in 2007.
A true Florida boy, Ryan was an avid boater and a proud member of the Carlouel Yacht Club. He lived life to the fullest, passionately embracing family, friends, food, and fun. Known for his sense of humor, Ryan always had a joke ready to brighten the day.
A receiving of friends and family for Ryan will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774, followed by a celebration of life from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
