

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Susan Janice Gay, age 71, of Bedford, Nova Scotia, Canada. A cherished wife, mother, grandmother and daughter who left us unexpectedly on April 29th, 2024. She departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unforgettable memories.
Susan was born on September 18th, 1952 to Geneva Millard and Ronald McKinley in Truro, Nova Scotia.
Sue was a beacon of light to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She possessed a heart that overflowed with compassion, and her spirit radiated warmth wherever she went. She touched the lives of countless people with her gentle demeanor, unwavering support, and contagious laughter.
In 1969, Susan met the love of her life, Michael Gay at Truro High School. In 1972 Susan and Michael started a family with the birth of their two children, Krista and Brian. Susan worked at home dedicated to raising her children and also certified as a fitness instructor running classes in her local communities. In 1990 Susan went on to begin a career with RBC Royal Bank of Canada in a financial advice role. She eventually took financial designations and became an accredited Financial Planner for decades with RBC.
Beyond her achievements, Sue was a beloved mother, and devoted wife who cherished every moment spent with family and friends. Her love knew no bounds, and she showered those around her with endless affection and guidance.
Susan retired in 2009 and spent her time with her husband Michael enjoying their properties at Bedford and Lake Torment, Nova Scotia (Canada) and Largo, Florida (USA), enjoying walking, kayaking, tennis, pickle ball, bicycling, friends, sunshine and Starbucks.
Sue's departure leaves an irreplaceable void in our lives, but her memory will forever remain etched in our hearts. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will continue to inspire us, guiding us through life's journey.
Susan Gay was predeceased by her mother, Geneva Millard, sister Karen McKinley, brother Randy McKinkey and father-in-law William Gay.
Susan is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, daughter Krista MacRae and her spouse Scott, grandson Brock and granddaughter True and her fiancé George Patter. Susan’s son Brian Gay and spouse Cindi and grandson Will. Her brother-in-law Robert Gay and his wife Mary and their children Kevin (spouse Gabriela) & Laura (partner Avi) and mother-in-law, Beryl Gay. Her father Ronald McKinley, brother Danny McKinley, and many aunts and cousins.
In honoring Sue's life, let us remember the laughter, the love, and the invaluable lessons she imparted and cherish the memories we shared. Sue may be gone from our sight, but she will never be forgotten. May her legacy continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her and find solace in the knowledge that she now rests in eternal peace.
