

He was born September 29, 1937, in Largo, Florida, to the late Torben Severin Madson and the late Nellie Carlton Jacks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother: Emilie “Skip” Quessenberry Madson; his 2 sisters and brothers-in-law: Sharon Nell Madson Ohlson (Al Ohlson) and Mary Jeanne Madson Kavin (Paul Kavin); and 1 granddaughter: Ericka Leigh Madson.
Ted was a graduate of The University of Florida, Gainesville, FL., where he obtained Bachelor’s Degrees in Computer & Information Sciences, Interdisciplinary Studies (Environmental Management), a Master of Business Administration and Juris Doctorate Degrees. He was an attorney for over 50 years; as well as a Master Mason; Florida Professional Surveyor and Mapper; an accomplished author having written many books on mathematics, land surveying, boundary law and business management. Ted was a member of Sweat Memorial Baptist Church, Waycross, GA.
Survivors include children: Michael Lewis Madson, Kathleen Elizabeth Madson Montaudo (Kathy); William Lloyd (Jenny) Madson of Micanopy, FL.; Torben Severin Madson, III (Sarah) of Apalachicola, FL.; 2 grandsons: William Madson and Kristopher Lee Madson; 3 granddaughters: Esther Montaudo, Sarah Montaudo Bell and Miriam Montaudo Amesbury; 1 great granddaughter:McKenzie Layla Madson; special niece: Sonya Ecker; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Serenity Funeral Home of Largo, Florida is assisting with arrangements.
Graveside service will be on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. in Largo Municipal Cemetery, Largo, FL, with interment in the Madson Family Plot. Visitation will be thirty minutes prior to the service.
“Amazing Grace” will be sung by friend Evan Brown and Rev. Stephen Norris will deliver words of comfort.
