GATES, Victor L, 89 of St. Petersburg, FL and formerly of Pittsburgh, PA passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, April 5, 2014. Victor was born on June 20, 1924 in Burdine, PA to the late Emery & Anna Maria (Kutka) Gates. He moved to this area in 1982 coming from Pittsburgh, PA. Victor was a proud Marine veteran serving his country in the South Pacific during WWII. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and an avid golfer. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Rose A Gates of St. Petersburg, a daughter Renae Schmidt of Largo, two sons Randall Carson of Clearwater and Ryan (Lori) Carson of Safety Harbor, six grandchildren Nicholas, Anthony, Christopher, Ashley, Benjamin & Lindsay and six great-grandchildren Angelena, AJ, Natalie, Isabella, Zachary & Izabella and a brother Emery Gates of Largo.
