Virginia never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew her.
The daughter of Peyton and Mary Smallwood, Virginia was born December 23, 1929in McIntyre, Georgia, and grew up in nearby Gordon.For manys years, she worked as a catalog room manager at Uniway in Florence, South Carolina.
She retired to Largo in 1992and was a longtime social club president of the New Atlantis Club Condominium.
Virginia was married for 71 years to Edward Lee McDonald, who died in October.
She is survived by her three children: Cindy Benedict of Tampa, Jeffrey Lee McDonald of Largo and Christopher McDonald of St. Petersburg; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She wa preceded in death by her husband, daughter Terry McDonald, son Veron McDonald, four sisters and two brothers.
Her family will hold a celebration of her life to honor her memory. It will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to Suncoast Hospice of Pinellas County.
