Allyn, William R. (Bill), 94, of Largo, FL, passed away on Thursday 8/8/2019. Bill will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Bill was born in Tampa, FL to Rube and Alice Allyn in1924. Bill served four years in the United States Navy.
Bill loved the water and many of his passions reflected that. Bill was the Education Officer for the US Power Squadron and taught Safe Boating courses and Celestial Navigation. He was also a former Board Member of the Clearwater Yacht Club. Bill retired from Tampa International Airport as Assistant Chief of the Tower with 42 years of service with the Federal Aviation Agency. Bill was most passionate about his family as they were the center of his world.
Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Dolores Allyn. He is survived and remembered by their children; Wayne Allyn (Nancy), Celeste Hopkins, Leslie Watson (Ken), and Alice McLaughlin (Bill), 7 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5-7pm, with a prayer service at 6pm, on Thursday 8/15/2019 at Serenity Funeral Home, Largo, FL. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30am on Friday 8/16/2019 at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Clearwater, FL. Burial will take place on Saturday 8/17/2019 at 1pm at Manasota Memorial Park, Bradenton, FL.
