

William G. Briggs Sr., 83 of Largo, FL, formerly of Dunkirk, passed away July 28, 2011 at Woodside Hospice House in Pinellas Park, FL. He was born in Eire, PA and relocated to Florida from Dunkirk in 1998. He was employed over 28 years with Dengler Chevrolet as service manager. After coming to Florida, he worked for the Bardmore and Bayou golf courses. He was a life member of Elks Lodge 922 in Dunkirk where he served in several capacities as board trustee, house committee, past district deputy for New York State, past state vice president, chaplain, and exalted ruler. He also organized the PGE Golf Tournament for New York State. Mr. Briggs is survived by a son, William Briggs Jr. (Kathleen) and daughter Candis Mancuso (Charles) both of Largo FL; brothers James Briggs of Dunkirk and John Briggs of Brocton, and Donald Briggs of Fredonia; sisters Martha Klocker and Katherine Gowen , both of Erie, PA and Kareen Simmons of Sebring, FL. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann; and brothers Gerald Raeymaker, Robert and Charles Briggs. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Sunday, August 7th at 1 p.m. at the First Ward Falcon Club, 341 Lake Shore Drive East in Dunkirk.
