Zach departed this life on March 4th, 2026 after a hard fought and courageous battle with cancer. First and foremost, Zach was a man who knew how to give and receive love in abundance. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Dr. Siddhi Patodia whom he married on December 1st, 2023. He came into this world on December 17th, 1992, forever blessing the lives of his parents Dolph and Lee Marmetschke and his future siblings, Joshua Marmetschke and Cassidy Martinez.
Zach embodied the idea of giving life meaning by filling every precious moment with intention. He was an outstanding and dedicated physician to his patients and a willing and supportive friend to his peers. He was a doctor, an athlete, a musician, a cook, a surfer, a gardner, a dog dad to his beloved Krishna, a husband, a son, a brother, a friend. He was quite simply a light in this world.
One of the many gifts Zach gave freely was his beautiful and heartfelt smile and for those who knew and loved him, it will continue to light our way forever. Zach’s life was defined by his endless kindness, his relentless bravery, his otherworldly strength, and undeniable selflessness. His tenacity, his endearing humor, his beautiful, kind soul, and his irresistible laughter, will resound in the lives of his loved ones as we dedicate ourselves to carrying forward the legacy of all he is and the boundless beauty of all he embodied.
In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to a program called Streetlight at University of Florida Health. Some of Zachs proudest moments were while volunteering with this program who’s mission is to build meaningful and consistent relationships, communities of support, and legacy projects for hospitalized adolescent and young adult palliative care patients throughout the course of their illnesses.
