He was a retired electrical draftsman and designer, and was employed by the Corps of Engineers in Albuquerque, New Mexico for 15 years; he also worked at the Nevada Test Site/Area 51; at the nuclear facilities in Hanford, Washington, Los Alamos, New Mexico, and San Onofre, California and completed his career in Saudi Arabia working on construction projects.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mildred M. Ortega.
He is survived by his son, Ronald R. Ortega of San Francisco, California; daughters, Patricia A. Palmer of Riverside, California and Roxane M. Ortega of Henderson, Nevada; sister, Jennie George of Silver Springs, Maryland; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Service will be held at 12:40 on November 16, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.
