CPO BARRY HAUPT U.S. Navy, Retired, 64, of Las Vegas, passed away Dec. 6, 2010. He was born Nov. 1, 1946, in San Francisco, and was a 23-year resident of Nevada. Barry was a devoted husband, father and patriot to his family and country. He came from modest beginnings in Kansas City, Kan., and always making friends quick wherever he lived, well-liked by people that had the honor of being called his friend. Barry was a hard-working man, with honor and integrity and was quick to give a total stranger the shirt off his back. A devoted family man, he always sacrificed his needs before his family. Barry was an avid golfer, bowler, and a diehard KC Chiefs fan. That is who our father was. Barry served his country for 25 years active duty in the U.S. Navy, volunteering for two combat tours in the Vietnam War. Always wanting to do his part for his fellow veterans, he continued his service to veterans as an employee of the VA Hospital in Las Vegas. He was a compassionate and caring man, who set the example for his family to follow. He will be honored and missed terribly. Barry was preceded in death by his father, Walter C. Haupt; and mother, Loretta O. Careswell. Barry is survived by his loving wife, of 40 years, Shigeko Haupt; sons, Bryan C. Haupt and Adam W. Haupt and their wives, Denise I. Haupt and Nicole M.
