

Benjamin Monroy, was born on March 31,1954, studied Elementary at Saint William’s in Laoag City, then moved with family to Pasay City, a suburb of Metro Manila, finishing High School at St. Andrew’s Academy in Paranaque, Rizal. He studied/finished B.S. Medical Technology at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, graduating in 1974, then immigrated to the USA in April 1977. He lived in Sunnyvale, CA and worked for Fairchild Semiconductors, Signetics, then AMD in Santa Clara/Sunnyvale - the last 2 were subsidiaries of North American Philips or Norelco at the time. He worked for about 20 years in all 3 companies and retired comfortably.
His favorite activity was mountain biking with a group of friends in Northern California - going for weekend bicycle rides with fellow bicyclists around the Bay Area.
He was a kind, soft-spoken person who had a sense of humor. He was helpful and went out of his way to be a good hospitable host to relatives visiting California.
He was knowledgeable in a vast array of topics that were not just mainstream superficial narratives. His favorite topics were ancient history, religion, and politics.
He is survived by his sister Lydia Monroy Michalowski, and Ryszard Michalowski, Brother Paul Monroy and Bansie Bulchand Monroy, and nieces: Pauline Claire, Bernice and Maureen, sister Cherry Monroy-Miller and Kevin Miller, and nieces: Desiree Hannah and Dana Katelyn, and his brother-in-law Juan Gabriel and nephews Gregory, Joseph, and Samuel.
