At the age of six, Brigitte was forced to flee her ancestral home during World War II, embarking on a harrowing 600-mile journey to safety. Just four months later, she lost her mother to cancer. In the aftermath, her father placed her in an orphanage, where she remained until she turned sixteen. Upon aging out of the orphanage system, she was sent to work as a maid in a private home.
Brigitte’s life took a new turn when her sister Lilli and her husband Ken Spencer sponsored her immigration to the United States. Arriving with only a few words of English but an unyielding determination, she quickly secured a job as a grocery store checkout clerk within months of landing in the U.S. When Ken was transferred to El Paso, Texas, Brigitte followed and once again found work in a grocery store. It was there that fate intervened—her future mother-in-law noticed her and was so impressed that she told her son about "the amazing girl at the grocery store." William Post soon visited the store himself and asked Brigitte on a date. Their whirlwind romance led to marriage in 1958.
Brigitte and William eventually settled in California, where they raised their two children. In her fifties, she took on the responsibility of raising her son’s children, demonstrating once again her deep commitment to family. Throughout her life, Brigitte was a pillar of support for those around her, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her unwavering dedication to family became both her mission and her legacy.
She is survived by her loving husband, William James Post; her son Robert Eugene Post; her daughter Kathryn Ostrowsky (Barry); and her grandchildren Darrell James Post (Sara), Tyler Joshua Post (Suzannah), and Emily Post (Ryan). She also leaves behind great-grandchildren Jovanna Garribay, Andrew Garribay, Eli Post, Wyatt Post, Jackson Post, Violet Post, William Post, and Harrison Post; as well as her great-great-granddaughter Denise and sister, Erika Pickett. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Denise Jennifer Post.
Brigitte will be remembered by those who knew her for the strength and resilience that defined her life. May her memory bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.
Services will be held Saturday, February 22nd, 2025 at 6pm. They will be held at 375 N Hollywood Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89110.
