Born on the island of Jamaica, Carlos later moved to Panama and eventually settled in California where he met his soulmate and travel partner Nettie Lee Buylding. They married in Acapulco and enjoyed almost 60 years of wedded bliss.
Carlos and Nettie settled in Las Vegas and spent the next few decades traveling and raising their daughter Kenyatta Buylding. Carlos also worked as a Job Placement Counselor for the State of Nevada, a Dental Technician with his own private practice and opened a restaurant in Jamaica.
Carlos loved his family, travel and his church. Carlos was a founding member of the Highland Square Seventh Day Adventist Church (now known as the Abundant Life Church).
Carlos also found pleasure in gardening, golf, cooking and reading.
Their love of travel took Carlos and Nettie to 48 of our 50 states, Belize, Cuba and Europe. Without a doubt his most memorable travel adventure was a trip to Egypt and then on to South Africa.
Carlos and Nettie continued international travel until their health no longer allowed him to do so. But even in his last days Carlos enjoyed car rides and sightseeing around town while being chauffeured by daughter Kenyatta or Donald, his son-in-law.
Carlos was preceded in death by his brother Douglas Buylding.
He is survived by his bride of almost six decades, Nettie Buylding; his daughters Anita Buylding and Kenyatta Robinson-Wing; grandchildren Daniel Laurie, Anthony Shields and Kierra Wing; and great grandson Brooklyn Shields.
