Carole L. Martin, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, September 9, 2012, after a valiant fight with pancreatic cancer. She was a resident of Las Vegas/Henderson for more than 50 years. Carole was born March 2, 1935, to LeRoy and Dorothy Steinert in Chicago.
Soon after graduating high school, Carole left Chicago to travel the world as an ice-skater with both the Sonja Henie and Holiday on Ice tours. In 1960, she moved to Las Vegas and was employed as a chorus line dancer at the Flamingo Hotel. It was around then that Carole met and married the love of her life, Charles J. "Chuck" Martin, who preceded her in death. After raising her family, she returned to the work-force as pit bookkeeper at MGM/Bally's, from where she retired after 28 years. Since then, she had enjoyed the freedom that only retirement can bring, traveling and living life to the fullest.
She is survived by her son, Charles J. "Chuck" Martin Jr.; daughter, Pamela Harrold; son-in-law, Dean Harrold; step-granddaughter, April Bradeson and her husband, Mike; grandchildren, Jessica and Tristan Martin; great-grandson, Drew Bradeson; and many wonderful friends who she also considered extended family. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
A celebration of Carole's life will be at noon, Friday, September 14, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local animal shelter or Cancer Society .
