Dennis Warren Murphy, 83, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away on October 22, 2024, in his home with family by his side after a year long battle with a debilitating illness. He was born on September 12, 1941, to Alice and Harold Murphy of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. After graduating from Sleepy Eye High School Dennis went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force. Dennis was a part of the Fire Protect Specialist and served in Vietnam. He was later stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. He attended and graduated from Glendale Community College, where he later taught as well. After active duty with the U.S. Air Force, he continued his career with the Civil Service as Assistant Fire Chief at Luke Air Force Base. While at Luke Air Force Base Dennis met his soul mate Patricia. They were married November 23, 1984. Together they had 6 children. Dennis enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, and camping. In 1987 Dennis was offered a promotion from Assistant Fire Chief to Deputy Fire Chief at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. That is also where he was promoted to Fire Chief and where he also retired as Fire Chief in 1997. Although he had retired, he just couldn’t sit still and not work. That is when he decided after a very short retirement that he would go back to working only this time he went to The Home Depot. Dennis enjoyed his job, customers and all the friends that are just like family! He started at the Home Depot on Riverdale Rd. in Utah, and then in 2000 they decided that it was time to move to Henderson, Nevada. There he continued to work at the Home Depot on Pecos Rd. which is where he worked until he officially retired at the beginning of 2024. Over the years you could find him enjoying the nice weather by either watching his granddaughters either playing softball or watching them bowl. He came to love playing bingo and made friends at every bingo hall in Nevada. If he wasn’t playing bingo, he could also be found at his favorite machine playing keno. Dennis always had a smile to give, he was a kind and gentle man and will be deeply missed!
Dennis is predeceased by his parents (Harold and Alice), his sister (Marlene), and his grandson-in-law (Jacob). He is survived by his loving wife of almost 40 years Patricia Murphy, of Henderson, Nevada. His brother-in-law Fred Pelton, of Arizona.
