Donald B Lytton

Don was born in Chicago on June 20th, 1930, to Hyman and Nancy Lytton. Don met his life-long friend and wife, Hilda, on a blind date when he was 19 and she was 17. It was love at first sight.

Don became a chemist and worked 6 days a week at La-Co Industries in Chicago where he eventually became president. He developed many products which were distributed world-wide.

His avocation, however, was photography. His son Richard handed him a camera one day and a life-long passion was born. Don went to great lengths to get the perfect shot. He would wait all day until the light was perfect. He once had to be rescued by police guided by a helicopter when he got lost in the wilderness in pursuit of a photo. He won many photography awards in Chicago and Nevada. Don and Hilda traveled the world together. Fortunately, they were each able to pursue their own interests. Hilda did not just have to stand around while Don took photos.

Don had a sense of humor that ranged from bad “dad” jokes to self-deprecating humor. He made good-natured fun of himself as well as others. He was a loyal and generous friend to many. He greeted everyone with a smile and a bear hug.

Don is survived by son Richard (Carol Knight) and daughter Amy (Brigid Riley). He was preceded in death by daughter Susan and wife Hilda.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the donor’s choice.

Funeral services will be held at King David Cemetery on Thursday, April 10th at 2:00 p.m.
